Welcome to the FAQ.
If you can't find what your looking for here, mail us on the Contact page and we'll get back to you. (when we've got the retrieve sorted)
What is pPIC? Having a nice new PG photo to look at every day.
Why? If pilots set pPIC as the homepage in their browsers they'll have great new PG photo every day, before browsing on. Even better, add the Google Gadget to your iGoogle homepage. Even better, add the plug-in to your websites and get fresh, new content daily.
Where do you get pPIC photos from? You. Click the submit link at the bottom of the page. It's not our website, you see, it belongs to the PG community.
Who chooses the photos? We spam-check all submitted images to make sure no non-PG images get in the queue. As long as it's PG related and it's a top shot, it'll go on. Upload your best one.
Am I guaranteed to get my photo on the frontpage? If it's PG related, a top shot and you comply with the simple guidelines on the submit page, Yes. Play fair, and it goes on. If it's another photo of boots and a green hill below, probably not.
What time of day do the photos change? Midnight, GMT. The time is fixed to GMT, so all pilots worldwide are looking at the same image at any given time. Your local timezone information, although available to our server, is not used to determine the day.
When would my photo appear on pPIC? After the last one that was submitted (and before the next one).
How many photos do you have in the queue right now? As of today, we have 2 days of legit images and 1 days of unchecked images.
I'd like my site added to the jumpoff list. Are you as popular as Google? Mail us, you might get lucky.
Who holds the copyright of my photo if I submit it? You do. We just want to show it on the web page for a day. Hopefully, lots of pilots will see it and be happy.
Can people keep a copy from your website and publish them? Yes they can. Any image on the internet can be stored by any visitor. We're hoping you'd be happy for them to use it privately as a background or screensaver on their PC though, right?
I've just seen one of my photo's on this website. Why? It would seem someone has submitted your photo. If you wish, we can remove it, just contact us. We will contact the person who submitted it and let them know it has been removed.
What are pPIC going to do with my photo? You simply trust us not to do anything other than put it on our homepage for a day, and we'll do exactly that. We'll keep it on the server, visible on the calender archive pages, unless you ask us to remove it. To maintain a historical record of daily images, obviously, we'd prefer to keep all images.
What will you do if someone wants to publish my photo? They'll contact us and we'll email you their details. You're then free to contact them if you wish.
I like a photo I've seen on pPIC and I want to publish it. Google the copyright holder and cut out the middle man. If Google fails you, mail us & tell us which photo. We'll contact the copyright holder and let him know you're interested.
I want to advertise on pPIC. Mail us. We can probably be persuaded to take cash. (or wings, harnesses, reserves, wives, etc)
Where did you get the pPIC idea, I like it? Like most good ideas, it's not ours. See APOD.
Who runs this site? Rod Bailey, that guy who did Pie.
So where's the humour then? Have you read the Upload FAQ
Why does he do it? To make you happy ;-)
